Spring Cleaning At The Office
Spring cleaning isn’t just for the home. Maybe your office or desk could use a little sprucing up! Tackle a few things in your own space, or grab a few of your coworkers and de-clutter a community area.
De-Clutter Your Desk
If your desk is covered in a mountain of papers, it’s time to get organized. Go through everything and toss or shred anything old or no longer useful. Take inventory of your office supplies. Do you have 100 pens or a giant stack of post it notes? These things have a way of piling up! Anything you’re not using should go back to the office supply room or to a coworker.
Now is a great time to take care of your electronics. Clean screens and dust your keyboard. It will make a huge difference! Wipe down your phone and headset, and any other gadgets you may use.
Virtual Spring Cleaning
I’m not talking about pretending you’re cleaning in a video game. If your computer desktop looks anything like your cluttered desk, it needs tending to! Also take this time to sort your emails and archive them. Make necessary backups of all your important files.
Tackle The Break Room
Communal appliances like the coffee machine, microwave, or refrigerator should be cleaned regularly. Maybe they’ve been neglected lately. A deep spring cleaning session is a great way to get back on track. Empty the fridge and clean all the shelves and drawers. Don’t forget the pantry! That box of snacks in the back of the cabinet probably expired last year. Take care of food splatter in the microwave and run a few cleaning cycles through the coffee maker. Then wipe down all counter surfaces, tables, and chairs.
Set aside a few days to do some spring cleaning around the workplace. In fact, you could even make it a friendly competition! Cleaning as a group is more fun than cleaning alone, anyway. With these simple steps, you will have a fresh and clean space in no time!
